Player Selection

Players are selected by the team coaches. The coaches evaluate and recruit prospects during the school basketball season and at tryouts. Coaches take into account 1) character and attitude and 2) skills and potential, and 3) how the prospect fits the coaches’ style of play or system.

Player Requirements
1. Be age-eligible for the team you are interested (age based on Jan. 1)
2. Have your parent’s or guardian’s approval and support to participate
3. Be committed and dedicated to play basketball from march through July
4. Have good basketball skills or have potential to play competitive basketball
5. Have good character and attitude

A player officially joins the Houston Challengers when: 1. Joining fees have been paid in full or in agreed-upon terms 2. The player has participated in her first tournament with the Challengers 3. Players’s AAU membership with the Houston Challengers has been processed Note: Each player must provide a copy of her birth certificate for age verification
